We all realize that swimming has its benefits and pluses but we rarely can say what are the exact benefits of swimming. The article lists several advantages of exercising in water.

Swimming is associated with contact with water, which is definitely not a natural surrounding of a child. It has to adapt and get accustomed to water so it is advisable that parents send their children for swimming classes to teach them how to behave and move in water. Swimming works well for various aspects of health, it brings plenty of benefits. The article presents advantages of various forms of swimming exercises.

Losing weight

Swimming is a perfect alternative for obese people. Thank to the ostensible loss of body weight in water a person becomes light and joints aren't overburdened. It is important because people suffering from obesity are more susceptible to injuries and joint overload than during training in normal conditions. Such form of rehabilitation is ideal for people with osteoarticular system problems, pregnant and post-labor women. Swimming is a good way of losing weight, slimming one's figure and maintaining good body posture. Muscles get more flexible and strong. Swimming activates lots of muscle groups which helps to develop the whole organism, not only its small part. Obviously, we can regulate the intensity and choose the type of exercising we like. If we want our legs to work most intensively we should place a swimming board into the hands, legs will be mostly involved in work then. If you want do it other side round, put the board between the legs, your arms will be active.

Aqua aerobic

Aqua aerobic is good for people who prefer group exercises and find them motivating. It gives a possibility to create a slim figure and strengthen muscles in the rhythm of music. This form of swimming exercises involves using various foams, strips, foamy barbells, dump-bells and objects which help to float in water. The use of this additional equipment makes water resistance higher which increases the intensity of the training. Aqua aerobic can be done in shallow water, around the hip height, medium-depth (up to the chest) and deep water. The type of exercising is adapted to water's depth.

Swimming and the spine

Swimming is suggested for young people with faulty posture. Thank to swimming they strengthen muscles near the spine and practise balance and coordination of body movements. A systematical swimming prevents from spinal curvature. Water relaxes muscles and prevents from getting cramps which means that back feels better even after a one session in the swimming pool. Swimming also has an impact on the respiratory system, it increases lungs' capacity. Breathing in and out demand more strength from muscles than in the air, that is why they become stronger. Apart from that, exercising in water increases the metabolism, alters blood circulation and improves the heart work. Therefore, swimming has a positive effect of lowering blood pressure.
