You are in: Main Page / Medical articles / Sexual life / Viagra for Women

Women have faced the problem of reduced libido or female impotence for a long time. Until recently, this has not bothered the men and scientists. These days there's a huge offer of natural female libido enhancers, aphrodisiacs, products such as vigel, estravil, arginmax, veromax which are called viagra pills for women because they increase libido and make sexual life more satisfying.

They've finally granted equal rights for women - scientists are working on the libido enhancer for women. Women also have the right to boost their sexual lust and health with a drug similar to Viagra. Although there are many products on the market that increase female desire the Viagra alternative pill is said to improve it significantly. The tests that had been carried out at the University of Virginia concentrate on drug which is a testosterone-laden ointment which helps women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder. Since this is a common sexual problem the drug tests aroused lots of hopes and expectations. Is it possible that every woman complaining for a low sex drive and lack of interest in sex will be able to visit the doctor and ask to prescribe her the medicine?

Testosterone

Women with menopause suffer from the diminishing energy and "flatness" of mood which is usually treated by doctors with estrogen and progesterone. Unfortunately, these hormones do not soothe some discomforts of menopause such as hot flashes, vaginal dryness and low libido or energy. It has recently turned out that lack of testosterone is to be blamed for those inconveniences. The combination of testosterone and estrogen boosts the interest in sexual intercourse.

The drug is suspected to work well since testosterone gets into the bloodstream, its level becomes constant and as a result it boosts energy and libido. Testosterone is said to have psychological and physiological impact on women and their sexuality. It is produced in ovaries, so when both ovaries are removed the production of testosterone is severely reduced, that changes the sexual desire and decreases well-being. It is said that testosterone has also some role in getting aroused and being satisfied. Special supplementation of testosterone gives women much more joy from the sexual life and prolongs it. The research conducted by the gynecologist Angelique Flöter Rådestad shows that testosterone supplements have beneficial effect on bone metabolism and musculature, ensures the nipple and clitoris are sensitive enough to improve sexual desire.

Testosterone therapy can also cause several side effects: acne, excess facial growth, lowering the voice, liver problems, mood and personality changes. Still, there have been no tests for a long-term testosterone therapy. For example, women with high testosterone level are more likely to have sons.

Female viagra

Viagra blocks the enzyme responsible for stopping the blood flow which results in improvement of erectile function in men. The same enzyme stops the blood flow in pelvis. However, the attempt to prove such idea failed as the female sexual arousal is mostly based on mental and emotional factors, and the increased blow flow in pelvis may not be enough. Nevertheless appropriate lubrication attracts blood flow to the genitals which intend to relax vaginal muscles. Therefore, viagra itself cannot be treated as a hope for regaining sexual life, there are better alternatives which increase sexual satisfaction.

Female libido enhancers, viagra alternatives:

DHEA - a special hormone which is converted into testosterone and estrogen, it has some side effects such as heart attacks and breast cancer
L-arginine amino acid cream - is designed to increase the blood flow in genitals, enhance sensitivity, increase sexual desire and intensity
All of the treatments should be used under control of a physician, the long-term studies has not been conducted yet.

The healthiest sexual enhancers are exercising, counseling and vaginal lubrication products though.
