Scientists created a drug that prevents from losing your sense of smell. It is a supplement that can lower the risk of fractures for older people.

This new drug can reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease which is cause by a loss of nerve cells in the brain part which controls movements. The same area is also linked to the sense of smell and loosing smell is the first sign of Parkinson's disease.
The drug is called rasagiline and it is already used to treat other symptoms of the disease. In Germany doctors performed a trial in which patients were given this medicine for three months. According to the researchers, the treatment can significantly improve the quality of life of thousands people suffering from Parkinson's disease. It's simply because patients can be treated faster.
Vitamin D plays a crucial role in lowering the risk of fractures of older people. 10 micro grams of vitamin D a day reduces the risk by around 20 per cent. It also plays an important role in calcium absorption which means vitamin D helps maintain strong bones. The sun is the most important source of vitamin D.
