Music can soothe pain of all newborns, it can even help with feeding the baby in hospital. Music for babies and toddlers can be equally important as for adults.

A new study revealed that live music, classical and sung by females reduces the pain of babies born prematurely during such procedures as heel prick blood test. The results has been shown by nine clinical trials. Babies born at full term also experience less pain during various operations. The best music included lullabies and recorded nursery rhymes. Music could also help babies in their development, according to the study authors from University of Alberta in Canada. Babies' heart rate, oxygen levels and pain levels showed beneficial effects of music. However, the authors claim more research is needed.
