Menstruation and menopause onset is primarily based on genes, according to the scientists.

They claim girls with early menstruation are more likely to be short and fat, they also have increased risk of beast cancer and endometrial cancer in their later life. Scientists discovered two genes responsible for determining the onset of menstruation and menopause. Early menopause makes the risk of osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease higher. The study needs further research so as to improve the understanding of all diseases related to early menstruation. Scientists analyzed data on 17,510 women in the whole world. This group contained women who started their menstruation between 9 and 17 years. some of these women carried two copies of gene variations which were responsible for early menstruation. These genes had also influence on both height and BMI.
