Marriage may be better for men than quitting smoking. Marriage is healthier for men than for women.

Marriage may raise blood pressure but actually getting married is very beneficial for men's health. A long marriage makes men less prone to developing fatal diseases and serious health problems. It's even better than quitting smoking. Researchers checked blood samples of 1715 volunteers in the ages between 57 to 85 and checked their levels of C-reactive protein. The protein is linked to heart diseases, depression and stroke. The study revealed that married men had the lowest CRP levels. When it comes to women, marriage doesn't affect their health.
Marriage reduces the risk of health problems in men by 10.34 per cent. The effects of being married can be better than those of quitting smoking. However, the study doesn't claim you should forget about any kind of activity or a healthy diet. This in combination with a good marriage can make you stay healthy for a long time.
