Liver cancer may recur if you keep having belly fat. Liver cancer survival rate depends on the amount of belly fat you have.

Belly fat accumulated in the area of abdominal organs is claimed to affect the likelihood of a recurrence of liver cancer after the treatment. The study was performed on 62 patients by Dr. H. Yoshida for the University of Tokyo and his colleagues. They followed all patients who had undergone treatment for liver cancer, 27 had high amounts of belly fat whereas the other 35 had smaller amounts. Patients were followed for a year and it turned out that in 15.9 percent patients in high fat group the disease returned, it was much higher than in low-fat group in which only 9.7 percent patients suffered recurrence of liver cancer. After three years, the rates were much more interesting: 75.1 percent and 43.1 percent. This means reducing levels of belly fat lower the risk of returning cancer.
