Country living can be as bad for asthma sufferers as living in the city.

When people are told they suffer from asthma they tend to rush to the chemist's and buy anti-asthma products. But it isn't often effective nor cheap. For instance, a specialist vacuum cleaner may cost as much as £250. According to Joy Smith of Asthma UK various measures may not be effective without knowing what triggered asthma. This can be discovered by a skin prick test available at your GP.
Sometimes plant pollen does more harm than dust mites, so instead of opening windows you should keep it closed. However, if dust-mites are to blame no measures may be effective. According to the Nordic Cochrane Centre in Copenhagen, none of the expensive methods of combating asthma is effective, no cleaning products or washing bedding at high temperatures bring relief.
A study performed at University of Michigan revealed that asthma-proofing steps are unlikely to help and some of them are potentially harmful. For instance, mites develop in humid conditions and most asthma sufferers use humidifier at home.
Many asthmatics live in the cities which means their symptoms can be alleviated in the country. Depending what your triggers are, various places are good for living with asthma. Asthma patients can exercise and play sports. Many people believe you can grow out of asthma, but it is not true. You don't need to have strong symptoms of asthma but you will have a tendency to have respiratory problems.
