What is the role of the prostate gland? The article tries to find answers to a common question about the role of prostate in the male organism.

Prostate is also called prostata or prostatic gland and its main role is to store and secrete fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid, which is a part of sperm. Prostate is a compound of mammalian reproductive organs. It has enormous influence on male sexual desire (the only condition is that it must be healthy), unhealthy prostatic gland causes impotence. These days, around 40% of 50 year-old men have smaller or bigger problems with prostate, this number is still growing.
This enormously influences sexual life of every man because they usually judge the quality of this sphere by the number of sexual intercourses. Prostate is a muscular organ of a size of a walnut which surrounds the urethra. Within prostate there is a 0.5-wide duct which is called prostatic urethra and leads to the urethra itself. Prostate is an exocrine gland producing fluid which stimulates spermatozoa movement. Male gamete also called sperm cells grow in testicles and then, inactive, are transported to the seminal bladder where they are kept until mature. Spermatozoa become more motile and swim faster influenced by prostate secretion which connects with sperm. This connection of prostate with sperm makes it able to fertilize an egg cell.
Prostatic gland controls the part of the central lobe of the pituitary gland which effects in passing father's character and personality onto an offspring. Apart from that, prostate secretion protects the ureter from any possible irritation caused by urine flow. Another role of prostate is regulation of urine pass. It closes the opening of the urinary bladder when it is filled. An urge to pass urine opens the opening of the urinary bladder, afterwards, prostate muscles contract and decontract when the next urination is essential.
How to protect the prostate?
The habit of drinking half a liter of carrot and spinach juice along with half a liter of carrot, beetroot and cucumber juice brings enormous benefits, prevent from constipations and problems with urethra. So it is crucial to take care of such an important body part and let organs and glands work properly.
