Diet has an enormous influence on hypertension and cholesterol levels. That is why you should apply a special diet and exercise for high blood pressure that reduces you problems and helps you feel better& remain healthier.






If you suffer from hypertension here's a special diet designed by DASH (Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension) for hypertension patients. The diet provides 2000 kcal per day, you can reduce the calorie amount by limiting consumption of bread, nuts, fats and oils, sweets and fruit juice. The portions are prepared for one day:

GRAIN AND WHOLE-GRAIN PRODUCTS
Allowed: 5-6 slices of bread (wholemeal bread), 4 tablespoons of cereal or corn flakes, 4 tablespoons of rice, groats or pasta cooked in unsalted water
Forbidden: fresh white bread or rolls, teacake buns, sweet breads, crisps, salty sticks or other salted snacks

VEGETABLES
Allowed: 1 glass of raw vegetables, 1 glass of cooked vegetables (including potato), 3/4 glass of tomato juice
Forbidden: tinned vegetables, pickled or marinated vegetables, cabbage

FRUIT
Allowed:1/2 glass of fresh fruit, 1/2 glass of dry fruit, 3/4 glass of fruit juice
Forbidden: tinned fruit, candy fruit

DAIRY PRODUCTS
Allowed: 2 glasses of skimmed milk or natural yogurt, 50g of low-fat cottage cheese
Forbidden: fatty milk, cheese, soft cheese, blue cheese, processed cheese

MEAT, POULTRY, FISH
Allowed: 180g of poultry (1 chicken fillet) or 180g of fish (one fillet of herring, cod, mackerel, sardine, hake, halibut, tuna or flounder)
Forbidden: cold meats, fat red meat: beef, pork, game or offal, tinned meat or tinned fish

NUTS AND SEEDS
Allowed: 2 tablespoons of nuts (walnut, hazelnut) or 1 tablespoon of seeds (sunflower, pumpkin) - 4-5 times a week
Forbidden: salted or chocolate covered nuts

SPICES
Allowed: garlic, onion, lemon juice, marjoram, basil, tarragon, parsley, dill
Forbidden: spices such as pepper, chili pepper, mustard, vinegar, sauces, ketchup, soy sauce

FATS AND OILS
Allowed: 2 teaspoons of soft margarine, 1 teaspoon of light mayonnaise or oil
Forbidden: butter, cream, lard, traditional mayonnaise

DRINKS
Allowed: 4 glasses of mineral water or tea, 1 glass of red wine once a week
Forbidden: coffee, fizzy mineral water, fizzy drinks, alcohol

SWEETS
Allowed: 1 teaspoon of sugar/honey/jam or 2 cubes of chocolate or 4 candies, 4-5 times a week
Forbidden: ice cream, candies, chocolate bars, halva

Follow this sensible diet and you'll forget about problems with your heart.
