Statistics say that the biggest problem of the civilization is obesity in children. Obese kids not only look bad, they simply suffer plenty of problems with health. How can we help fat kids?

A child derives obesity from home. Not only because of the genetic predisposition to gain weight which it got from parents. Children inherit mostly the habits of their closest ones. That is why it is important to begin the child's diet from changing the eating habits of the whole family. Of course, sometimes the obesity of a preschooler is caused by some disease e.g. hormonal disorders, nervous system disorders. Regardless the cause of the problem, obesity is always dangerous to his/her health. Additional kilograms are a serious burden for the spine and joints, blood circulation is damaged, problems with sleeping appear. Above all, obesity is a source for complexes and loneliness of young children.
WHO suggests that babies up to 6 months old should be only breast fed. During this period mothers shouldn't give any food to their children if they want to avoid problems with obesity in the future. Young organisms start produce excess amounts of fat cells which develop into the obesity quickly.
Young mothers often make a mistake of giving their children sweet juice and sweetened desserts. They contain plenty of high-calorie sugar and form child's taste in an unhealthy way. Children are often convinced that sweets are rewarding and can comfort all pains.
A common mistake is to overfeed babes who didn't weigh much when they were born. If a child isn't gaining weight quickly enough parents try to increase the calorie level of its meals or they simply double their portions. As a result, thin non-eaters become obese teenagers who can't cope with additional kilograms.
If your child is overweight you have to implement rules of healthy diet not only for the child but also for the whole family. You shouldn't force child to eat and giving sweet snacks between the meals to children is detrimental to their health. A crucial thing is to obey the same meal hours. Children tend to eat snacks while watching TV or playing computer games. If the child doesn't practice any sports, it can't get rid of the additional kilograms.
Food experts created a special food pyramid for the youngest ones. It's based on exercising as it can guarantee proper development of the organism and removing the excess of energy from the body. The menu should contain complex carbohydrates as a main source of energy. An important element of the diet is protein, a builder of all tissues and organs. Everyday diet shouldn't lack healthy fats e.g. butter, olive oil, oils. Children should drink plenty of water and unsweetened drinks.
