/ Vaginismus

Description of disease:
 Vaginismus is a sexual dysfunction during which a person's vaginal muscles tense unconsciously, irrespective of her will. This leads to inability to have any sexual intercourse, to perform tampon insertion or gynecological examination.
Vaginismus that develops from psychological problems is a defensive reaction which results from the fear of having sex, expectation of pain or lack of emotional closeness with the partner. It is also a sign of feeling ashamed, scared. Sometimes, it is a trained defensive reaction to previous traumatic experiences.
Other causes of the disease:
- immature, hysteric personality
- diseases that develop after rapes
- infections of perineum
- religious rigorism, feeling of guilt
- fear of pain, intercourse, loss of hymen or pregnancy
- hypersensitivity of muscular and nervous system
Vaginismus is 100% cured, the treatment involves a combination of training with psychotherapy (relaxation, exercises of vaginal muscles, erotic fantasies, healing infections).
