/ Uterovaginal Fistula

Description of disease:
 Fistula is the term for abnormal connection of two inner organs caused by injuries, complications of some diseases, there are three types of vaginal fistulas:
- ureterovaginal - it is a connection between the ureter and the vagina which makes the urine flow through the vagina; the treatment involves catherer insertion, or surgical intervention, if it is needed, (the ureter is joined to the bladder above the fistula).
- vesicovaginal - it is a connection of bladder with vagina which makes urine flow through the vagina, it is usually the consequence of an operation of removing cancer and radiotherapy. The treatment involves surgical procedure which closes the fistula with the tissue taken from pudental lips.
- rectovaginal fistula, it is a connection of the rectum and the vagina which makes feces excrete from the vagina. The treatment involves surgical closure of the fistula, if it is ineffective doctors use artificial anus which makes feces excrete to the sack placed outside.
