Description of disease:
 Thyrotoxicosis is a disease characterised by the excess amount of thyroid hormone in the organism. There are two types of thyrotoxosis:
1) Grave's disease - the body produces immunoglobins that trigger thyroid hormone production
2) Nodular goitres - these are tumors that develop from thyroid parenchyma, they produce thyroid hormone
The treatment involves maintaining an appropriate hormone level. Thyrotoxicosis is treated with radioactive iodine, drugs blocking synthesis and releasing tyroxine. Surgical operation is sometimes essential, a part of thyroid is removed.
The risk factors include stress, genetic factors, autoimmune disease. The disease affect women more often than men.
Symptoms:

abnormal protrusion of both eyes dyspnea, breathlessness enlarged thyroid glands excessive sweating hand tremor hyperactivity, overexcitement increased appetite tachycardia (rapid beating of the heart) weakness weight loss
