/ Thiamine Deficiency

Description of disease:
 Thiamine deficiency is a water-soluble vitamin. Its role in organism includes:
- metabolizing amino acids
- taking part in tissue respiration
- being a part of carboxylaze coenzyme
- improving acetylocholine activity
- blocking cholinesterase
- acting synergically with tyroxine and insulin
- triggering gonadotrophic production
- speeding up healing cuts
- soothing pain
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) can be found in:
- whole-grain breads
- meat, cold meat
- leguminous plants
- yeast
- nuts
- fish
- fruit and vegetables
An average adult needs 1.6mg of vitamin B1 every day.
