Description of disease:

Supraventricular tachycardia is an abnormal fast heart beat that originates from the atria, the upper ventricles of the heart or atrioventricular node. The rhythm is regular, around 120-200 beats per minute. It is sometimes not identified in the EKG examination.

There are several types of supraventricular tachycardia:
- sinus tachycardia
- inappropriate sinus tachycardia
- sinoatrial node reentrant tachycardia
- atrial tachycardia
- multifocal tachycardia
- atrial fibrillation
- atrial flutter
- AV nodal reentrant tachycardia
- AV reentrant tachycardia
- junctional ectopic tachycardia
