/ Secondary Arterial Hypertension

Description of disease:
 Secondary pulmonary arterial hypertension is a disease of the circulatory system which is marked by periodical high arterial blood pressure. Contrary to the primary hypertension, the causes of the secondary arterial hypertension are well known - it is a result of endocrine glands disease.
Probable causes:
- diseases of kidneys
- diasease of endocrine glands
- neurological disorders
- severe stress e.g. before the surgery
- pregnancy
- some drugs
- toxic substances such as: amphetamine, cocaine, metals
- hypervolemia
- coarctation of the aorta
- sleep apnea syndrome
Secondary arterial hypertension prevention includes loosing excess weight, giving up smoking, reducing consumption of alcohol and salt, diet rich in potassium and regular physical exercises.
