Description of disease:

Riboflavin is a vitamin B2 from the group of water-soluble vitamins. It is crucial for appropriate growth, it takes part in processes of oxidation and reduction. Riboflavin and vitamin A are responsible for appropriate functions of mucous membranes in the mouth, respiratory tract, epiderm and blood vessels. Its presence is essential for changes of amino acids and lipids. Riboflavin deficiency may result in nervous system and mucous membranes disorders. Each person needs about 1.5mg of riboflavin every day.

Vitamin B2 can be found in:
- all types of meat e.g. game
- yogurt, buttermilk, milk, eggs and cheese
- salmon, trout, mackerel and mussel
- almonds, walnuts
- green parts of vegetables, beans, peas and soy beans
- wholegrain bread
- mushrooms
- yeast

It is sometimes added to some foodstuffs, with the E101 symbol.

baldness
blurred vision
blurred vision
breathing disorders
dizziness
growth inhibition
itching of the female genitals
photophobia
problems with concentration and remembering
scaly skin
sleeping problems
