/ Renal Cell Carcinoma

Description of disease:
 Cancer of the kidney or in other words renal cell carcinoma is a malignant cancer that arises from renal tubules. It accounts to 1-2% of all malignant cancers, men suffer from this type of cancer twice more often than women.
Due to the fact that symptoms appear late it is very difficult to diagnose this disease. The causes of renal cell carcinoma are unknown but the heredity as well as tobacco smoking and the environment are said to be its underlying factors. The disease affects people over 50, but it is more and more frequently found in younger people. The treatment involves surgical removal of the tumor with one kidney and affected lymph nodes. The patients have 80 % chance to be cured, it is lower in patients who had metastasis within five years after the operation. The post-surgical treatment consists in immuno and chemotherapy.
Symptoms:

fever hematuria (blood in urine) loss of appetite other undefined stomach ache pain in the loins slightly raised temperature tumor in the loins weight loss
