Description of disease:

Rabies is an infectious viral disease that is dangerous for humans. The disease affects wild and domestic animals and is transmitted through contact with saliva e.g during bites from an animal to animal or from animal to person. That is why it is essential to vaccinate domestic animals and not to ignore any bites of an unvaccinated dog. A human may also get infected by the animal's saliva coming into his nose, mouth or mucous membranes.
The incubation period usually lasts from 10 days to 1 year. The moment when the first symptoms appear it is too late for any treatment, rabies already leads to death. The virus damages nervous system in such a way that respiratory muscles are paralized, patient suffers from contractions of larynx and throat which cause death from suffocation.

Symptoms:


constipation
diarrhoea
excessive salivation
feeling unwell
fever
loss of appetite
muscular rigidity
vomiting
