Description of disease:

Purulent otitis media is a disease that may cause such complications as labyrinthitis. It is ascribed to bacterial infection of the medium of the ear, very often connected with the previous infection of the upper airways. Purulent otits media is characterized by the production of liquid in the area of ear-drum. Among the risk factors there are those conditions that make proper work of the auditive tube impossible, allergies, facial skeleton malformations (including cleft palate), adenoid, tumors in the nose and larynx, polyps and distortion of nasal septum.
Purulent otitis media affects children between 4 and 7 most often, it can be rarely met in children older than 10 and adults.
