Description of disease:

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a condition, a group of diseases which make breathing extremely difficult. The airflow is obstructed and breathing heavy. The disease cannot be fully reversed and it is connected with the response of pulmonary system to harmful dust and substances that are systematically inhaled. However, the most frequent cause of the disease is smoking.

Risk factors include:
- tobacco smoking
- exposure to smoke
- industrial dust
- environment pollution
- low weight at birth
- frequent pulmonary diseases during childhood
- heredity - α1-antitypsin deficiency

cough
dyspnea, breathlessness
wheeze breathing
