/ Nose bleeding (Epistaxis)

Description of disease:
 Nosebleeds are closely associated with a big vascularization of the nose and placement of veins on the cartilage and bones which make the veins unable to widen. The place that bleeds frequently is the Kiesselbach's area or Little's triangle placed in front of the nasal septum.
The causes include:
- nose injuries
- bone fractures in the area of the nose and facial skeleton
- acute inflammations of mucous membranes in the nose e.g. flu
- benign (polyp) or malignant cancers
- arterial hypertension and other systemic diseases
- vitamin C deficiency e.g. scurvy
- chemical poisoning or irritating characteristic of chemicals
Nosebleeds are usually scant and they usually stop after a couple minutes. In case of recurring, heavy bleedings that cannot be controlled for several minutes the patient should contact the doctor.
Nosebleeds can have allergological or laryngological source, it depends on the disease.
