Description of disease:

Miscarriage is a premature loss of pregnancy before the 22nd week. It is estimated that 10 to 15% pregnancies end up with miscarriage. The risk that the next pregnancy will finish in miscarriage increases by about 24%, after two previous miscarriages it is even bigger 26%, and after three miscarriages accounts to 32%.

The causes of miscarriages may be hereditary but they can be a result of any infectious disease e.g. rubella.

Other causes include:
- developmental anomaly
- poor diet
- alcohol consumption
- tobacco smoking
- medicines overdose
