/ Migraine

Description of disease:
 Migraine is a recurring, pulsing headache that most often affects women and people during puberty. The pains are triggered by emotions or physical exercises. The time, frequency and pain level vary depending on the person. Migraines make people suffer from aura: nausea, temporal loss of vision, scotomas which result in headaches. The disease is genetically induced. There are several types of the migraine:
- basilar type migraine - preceded by the photo phobia, temporal loss of vision, reduced vision sharpness and clarity
- hemiplegic migraine - pain is accompanied by the paralysis of the eye area, eyelis drop and eyeball movements are impaired
- paralytic - it is characterized by pulsing headaches
- status migrainosus - a rare and recurring pain that is accompanied by the skin rash, sweating, nose discharge and severe lacrimation
- migraine with aura - pain is accompanied by the visual disturbances, numbness of the limbs, problems with articulation and co-ordination.
- headache-free migraine - the migraine symptoms, nausea, vomiting, constipation without headache
Migraine is usually treated with painkillers and pharmaceuticals from ATC N 02 C group.
