Description of disease:

Mesothelioma is a malignant tumor found in cells of the mesothelium, a tissue that covers internal organs (pleura, pericardium, peritoneum). The development of mesothelioma is triggered by the exposure to asbestos and virus SV40 infection. It affects people over 40 years old most often. Healing mesothelioma is very hard as the disease is very rare and hard to diagnose, the prognoses are very poor.
Diagnosing mesothelioma is difficult because the symptoms are similar to those which occur during a number of conditions. Apart from that its x-ray image varies and the microscope tests are similar to other cancers (e.g. adenoma).


Symptoms:


chest tightness
dyspnea, breathlessness
hemoptysis (coughing with blood)
reduced activity
weight loss
