/ Malignant Laryngeal Cancer

Description of disease:
 Larynx cancer or laryngeal cancer is the most common among head and neck cancers. It is usually placed in the epiglottis, less commonly in the glottis and only 1% of cases is located in the subglottis.
Laryngeal cancer occurs mostly in men but recent studies show that the number of sick women is growing. The disease rarely affects people younger than 20.
Risk factors include:
- tobacco smoking
- alcohol consumption
- pre-cancerous conditions of the larynx
- nickel refining
- asbestos
- chromium
- mustard gas
- genetic factors
- aromatic hydrocarbons
- gastroesophageal reflux disease
- certain working conditions
Symptoms:

bad breath cough dysphagia dyspnea, breathlessness hemoptysis (coughing with blood) hoarseness painful swallowing sore throat weight loss
