Description of disease:

Larynx, with the vocal cords, is located at the top of the trachea. Frequent occurrence of laryngitis is associated with various infections of the respiratory tract such as cold, pneumonia or bronchitis. It results in the scratchy, husky sound or loss of voice. The exposure to tobacco smoke, drinking alcohol, intense talking, singing and shouting, bacterial infections are said to provoke laryngitis. Other causes of the disease include: laryngeal polyp, paralysis, cancer, allergy or traumas.
