Description of disease:

Glaucoma is a serious disease leading to blindness if it is untreated. There are 40 types of the disease and its causes are unknown. Glaucoma is often associated with high internal eye pressure but studies show that people with normal pressure also suffer from glaucoma.
Due to the fact that the disease doesn't have any symptoms, it may be developing unnoticed for many years. The patients don't even realize that their vision has worsened. If it happens for you not to notice decreased ability to see the edges of your vision or if you suffer from morning headaches, you should contact your doctor.
The group with the biggest risk are:
- people over 50 years old
- people with glaucoma in the family
- people wit low blood pressure
- near-sighted individuals
- people who suffer from atheromatosis
- diabetes patients
