Description of disease:

Emphysema (emphysema pulmonum) is a serious lung disease that reduces elasticity of lung tissues by destroying the lungs air sacs. It may be a consequence of bronchitis or bronchial asthma. It is mostly common for people who use their respiratory system very often e.g. musicians playing wind instruments, glass works workers who produce glass. Sick people are advised to avoid aerosol deodorants, hairspray and smoking, a balanced diet is also very important. Flu vaccinations are essential for emphysema sufferers and antibiotic therapy is needed in case of bronchia infection. If the disease develops it is often necessary to provide oxygen to patients or a surgical reduction of their lung capacity is needed. Acute emphysema may lead to cripple hood.
