Description of disease:

Bartholin's cyst or Bartholin's gland cyst is most common among women aged from 20 to 40. Bartholin glands are located on each sides of the opening of the vagina and are responsible for lubrication during the intercourse, a fluid secretion is produced then. When the glands are obstructed the fluid goes back into the gland and it causes a lump or mass near the opening of the vagina.

The disease is usually a result of presence streptococcus, micrococcus, staphylococcus bacteria in the organism which cause inflammation. It is the obstruction of the glands which is responsible for pus accumulation and lump creation. The abscess can break and emit pus into the surface of the organism.

Surgical drainage is the most common form of treatment, the doctor makes an incision in the cyst and lets it drain with the use of catheter.

detectable tumor of the vulva
discomfort while walking or sitting
edema of the vulva
lump in the vulva
painful sexual intercourse
painful vulva
slightly raised temperature
