Description of disease:
Acne is a disease that occurs during puberty among teenagers, boys and girls. It is caused when a pore blocks sebum produced in sebaceous glands from escaping and the skin forms papules and pustules. Acne happens most often in people of ages between 12 to 30.
A bout of acne is normal in premenstrual window as the body accumulates water and soda.
Acne treatment may be long lasting or end in an adult age.
The medications which are used for acne treatment vary from exfoliating, applying antibiotics on an inflamed place or eating hormones.
Skin cleansing is the most important thing in case of acne, it can be done with all types of cleansers containing sulfur, salycid acid, thymic acid or menthol.
Chemists offer sulfur or ichthammol mixtures for everyday application. Over-the-counter medicines can also help, as they include the whole series of lotions, cleansers, cosmetic pads, gels, creams. Applied together they make the result of the treatment more visible, e.g. Effalpha, Benzacne, Oxy or Clearasil.
It is good to consult the use of medications with a dermatologist because some of them may interact inappropriately. The key to success though is following the regimen systematically as well as visiting the beauticians.
